Spectrum currently holds a massive footprint in the region, providing coverage to approximately 89.8% to 100% of Laredo. With prices starting at $30 per month and speeds reaching between 1 Gbps and 2 Gbps, it functions as the city’s primary utility for digital transit. This near-total ubiquity creates a baseline for household connectivity that keeps Laredo competitive, ranking it 46th among 100 major U.S. cities for speed.
Yet, the high-end tier of the market remains restricted. AT&T Fiber, which offers the fastest symmetrical speeds of up to 5 Gbps, is available to only 21% to 57% of the population. This creates a two-tiered system where high-bandwidth, low-latency digital operations are concentrated in specific, fortunate zones, while much of the city remains reliant on legacy infrastructure or alternative methods of access.

In neighborhoods or business districts where fiber-optic lines have yet to reach, residents and small firms have pivoted to different technologies. Many rely on fixed wireless solutions like T-Mobile or AT&T Internet Air to maintain operations, while others in the periphery turn to satellite providers such as Starlink or Viasat. These solutions fill the void where traditional wired infrastructure fails to tread, ensuring that even remote parts of the Laredo corridor remain digitally tethered.
